The Interview
My name is Austreah, but best known as Pinky. I am a wife and mother of two beautiful children, my son David, 10 and daughter Daveah, 6. I also have a bonus daughter Davielle, 15. I'm born and raised in Detroit, MI and I love it here! I stream on Twitch full time and work part-time. Went to school for television and radio production, as well as for medical billing, but broadcasting is my passion. I love to cook awesome meals for my family, reading, and writing (in love with stationary). I am an introvert, and I've suffered from depression but my children, husband, and my Pink Squad give me life!
BGGC: Tell us your stream schedule if you have one/stream! As well as information about the games you stream and the focus of your channel and what systems you play on (Console/PC, etc.)
Pinky: My stream times are Monday through Friday 8:30 am until 11:00 am (or to 12 noon) eastern time. Saturday streams usually start at 10:00 am eastern time and last for a while. Sundays are stream rerun days! I am a variety streamer, so I play lots of different types of games. Currently playing The Division 2, Overwatch, Dead By Daylight, NBA Live 19, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered. I play/stream from my PlayStation 4.
BGGC: Describe your favorite games that you grew up playing!
Pinky: I had a few favorites. On Super Nintendo, Super Mario World. On the Gameboy, Wario World. On PlayStation 2, Crash Bash
BGGC: What does gaming mean to you and what is its significance in your life as a Black Woman or Woman of Color?
Pinky: Gaming means a lot to me. It means that I can escape reality for a few hours and be a kid again with no worries. It means that as a black woman I can imagine myself as the characters that I play and feel empowered. Whether it is playing a shooter, fighting, sports, etc. I know that I can be who I am and have a good time.
BGGC: What does motherhood mean to you and how do you balance being a mom with being a gamer? Are your children gamers too? If so, do you play together? How does this influence your relationship with each other? Are there games that you loved as a kid (or currently) that you want to pass on to your children and share with them?
Pinky: Motherhood is such a blessing! I never knew what unconditional love was until I had my beautiful children! It means love, hurt, lower back pain, sleepy days/nights, sick days, overtime, class trips, projects, first days, etc. And I would not change anything about it! I balance my gaming/streaming well. When the kids are at school I stream and I'll sneak in some gaming time, just for me, after they are in the bed for the night. Yes, my children are gamers too, actually, our entire family is gamers. My son plays Fortnite and Destiny 2, he plays Fortnite with me and plays Destiny 2 with his dad. My daughter plays Roblox and Minecraft, she plays Roblox with her brother and plays Minecraft with both her brother and myself. My bonus daughter plays Grand Theft Auto 5, Sims 4, and Fortnite, she plays with everyone. This really brings our family together to have some play time from a long day at work or from school. My hubby actually just purchased a mini Super Nintendo system with all the throwback games on it. We all take turns playing on it. I'm working on getting my son into playing Super Mario World, but he likes his Fortnite better, lol.
