KinkedNitemare

The Interview

I go by KinkedNitemare on Twitch, Twitter, Instagram and various other platforms

I'm KinkedNitemare most call me Kinky or Kinked.  I've been gaming since around 5 years old on Atari and gaming just stayed in my life from then on.  I've been streaming for a little over 3 years my focus has been primarily on FPS, Horror and indie titles.  Beyond being a Streamer and Community Manager I am also a mom to 2 beautiful little boys.  One is 4 years old and the youngest just turned 2.  My oldest son is also non-verbal autistic.  It does not define him but it is part of who he is.
I also do some writing from time to time about marginalized groups and a few game reviews. Hope to do a lot more with that in the future.

BGGC: Tell us your stream schedule if you have one/stream! As well as information about the games you stream and the focus of your channel and what systems you play on (Console/PC, etc.)

Kinked: I play a lot of PvP, primarily Rainbow 6 Siege, Rings of Elysium, and Apex Legends.
Horror games I've finished include most the Five Nights at Freddies, all the Outlasts ect.
I am mostly a pc player but recently got a PS4 for their solo titles.

Stream Schedule: Sunday 6pm Pacific (9pm Eastern)
Monday 6pm Pacific  (9pm Eastern)
Tuesday 6pm Pacific  (9pm Eastern)
Wednesday 11am Pacific (2pm Eastern)

BGGC: Describe your favorite games that you grew up playing!

Kinked: Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Mario, Halo, Gears of War to name a few

BGGC: What does gaming mean to you and what is its significance in your life as a Black Woman or Woman of Color?

Kinked: Gaming to me was an escape for a large part of my childhood.  At home was not the best of places and I liked the idea of getting away, even if I was stuck in one place.
Now as an adult I find I like the challenge of games.  The ride they take me on and the stories they tell.  I love gaming for the art form it is and for the chances it gives many to see through someone else's eyes.
I think gaming has come a long way for diversity, but it still has so far to go in helping marginalized groups be represented and have a safe space to enjoy gaming.

BGGC: What does motherhood mean to you and how do you balance being a mom with being a gamer? Are your children gamers too? If so, do you play together? How does this influence your relationship with each other? Are there games that you loved as a kid (or currently) that you want to pass on to your children and share with them?

Kinked: I always wanted to have children of my own, but I never knew what that would entail for me.  I love the tiny humans that are in my life right now, they are my world and I hope when they are old enough I get the chance to pass gaming on to them.  Helping them through Mario would be amazing.
Finding balance is always a struggle.  My home is also my workspace and there is no separation at the moment.  So sometimes life blurs into gaming and vice versa.  The best I can do is be mindful if either gets to be too much.
